Degree Program: Master of Arts in Counseling (Ewing and Portugal Sites)

The School Counseling option within the MA degree program in Counselor Education is designed to qualify eligible students for state certification in School Counseling at the elementary and secondary levels. Prior to the beginning of the program students attend an orientation and are required to review the Department’s online Student Manual which details the curriculum, policies and procedures of the program. In addition, students attend a clinical orientation and are asked to read the Department’s online Clinical Manual prior to enrolling in the clinical sequence of the program in order to prepare them for this capstone experience.

The Department of Counselor Education at The College of New Jersey’s Ewing site has been continuously accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) since 1991 and we are currently accredited until October 31, 2030.  The Portugal site is not currently CACREP accredited and as of June 2023, is currently under review.
